This image has been reduced in size - click here to view full sizeLast week we posted a news article about U2 to play a free show to mark the 20th anniversary of the Berlin wall coming down which will be broadcast tonight as part of the MTV Europe Music Awards 2009.

We've just learnt that the organisers have just erected a wall around the Brandenburg Gate where the band will be playing this historic show.

BBC's Damien McGuinness (who is currently in Berlin) has said that the local people have called it "pretty ironic" and that it has "created a lot of outrage here because of the falling of the wall was supposed to bring people together."

It is expected that 100,000 people were expected to try to see U2 in the German Capital this evening, lets hope they can.
